Bishop Arguelles in an interview with Church-run Radyo Veritas alleged that substantial amount of money also entices these showbiz personalities to endorse the passage of the bill. He further alleged that corporations manufacturing condoms are funding the reproductive health bill campaign.
Meanwhile, Sorsogon bishop Arturo Bastes said actors who support the RH bill set a bad example to the youth.
Bastes asked the followers of these actors not to be swayed by "sweet talk" on contraceptives. "They do not know they are talking about. People are easily fooled by those so called actor and actresses. I wish many of them are not Catholics.
But am happy na hindi lahat ng artista at pabor sa rh bill (not all movie stars are in favor of the RH bnill) . Marami rin sa kanila ang tutol dito.Maraming prominent people ang tutol sa RH bill like Saranggani Rep. Manny Pacquiao," (Many of them are also against the RH bill. Many prominent people are against the RRH Bill like Saranggani Rep. and boxing champion Manny Pacquiao), Bastes said.
He said the Filipino boxing icon will be their guest during a permanent council meeting at the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP).
