The Rainbow Parade is a peaceful demonstration dedicated to freedom and equality for all individuals, regardless of their sexual orientation. This Parade, against homophobia and  discrimination, is open to all gays, lesbians, bisexuals and transsexuals. We also welcome  wholeheartedly the participation of heterosexuals who have a commitment to human rights and equality.

The upcoming Parade is intended to raise awareness about the pervasive forms of prejudice, discrimination and violence against homosexuals, and to encourage respect and tolerance among members of the Mauritian democracy. It encourages the homosexual community to come together and defend its rights through an appeal to the entire population to mobilize itself for a country where the rights of all human beings are respected.

The Collectif Arc-en-ciel has been actively involved in the well-being of the Mauritian LGBT  community for the past five years through ongoing social outreach programmes. Among our main projects is an active participation in the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria through an education and prevention initiative. We are also in the process of launching a project, with the support of the Indian Ocean Commission’s endeavour for the prevention of HIV/AIDS and STDs at regional level (AIRIS/COI) that will namely contribute to the empowerment of the community, and encourage HIV screening among the LGBT community through the setting up of a rapid testing structure at the Centre of the Collectif Arc-en-ciel.
